S3E3: Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) - Emilio Arriola c/o 2011, Ashley Stutes c/o 2011 & Samantha Barton (MPA Current Student)

Episode Summary

In this episode, we speak to two alumni and one soon to be, who are leaders within San Antonio's premier Child Advocacy groups. After the first CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) took shape in Washington in 1977, numerous CASA organizations began to rise around the country. Dallas CASA was one of the first Texas CASA's in 1979, and that's where our founders, Ellinor Forland and Betty Zinn learned how to run CASA, and then came back to San Antonio to implement it here. The mission of Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) is to recruit, develop, and lead highly impactful court appointed volunteer Advocates who provide constancy and support for children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect. We achieve our mission through advocacy for services, supportive connections, and permanency, while emphasizing family reunification when possible. Our vision is to be a leading positive and influential force in the child welfare community, while serving children who have experienced abuse and neglect in Bexar County.
